With The Christmas Season Upon Us, I could not wait to share my holiday home decor. This season I am crazy in love with the red and black buffalo plaid. For me, the buffalo plaid screams warm and cozy with a simple rustic midwest feel. I thought for our first Christmas in Milwaukee, this cozy plaid is perfect for this year's decor.
Because we live in a two bedroom apartment, I do not have a ton of room to go crazy or have the space to keep a bunch of seasonal decor. So I try to think of fun, easy and inexpensive ways to decorate our house. I always start with a real tree, we get ours from Home Depot and their trees have been fantastic year after year plus the price point is great, our tree was $30. I love to add pinecones, ivory bows and red and gold ornaments . I mix in a neutral color like ivory with the boldness of the red, black and gold to give the decor a warm and inviting feeling. I also saved the tree trimming from when the branches are cut off at the store so I can use those to decorate around the house.
We have a ton of artwork and family photos in our living room so to add a deeper element of hoiday fun I wrapped all the photos in the buffalo plaid wrapping paper from Target. I also picked out two other wrapping papers that coordinate with the buffalo plaid print. I want the decor to be cute not overkill. I spent $7.50 on three rolls of wrapping paper and I think it makes such a big difference. Adding printables and candles are another great way to keep in with the theme but without breaking the bank. Save those dollars for gifts for loved someone or even yourself, haha. Also, do not be afraid to get on Pinterest and try out a DIY or two. Trust me, I am no Martha Stewart, I wish I was, but I do love a little holiday DIY project.
Other fantastic and simple way to add some depth to your theme are stockings, a table runner, napkins and of course throw pillows. My favorite way to add a magical holiday touch is with matching pajamas for the whole family. If you are in love with this holiday theme as much as I am check out my pinteret board Holiday Happiness for more inspiration!
