I am so excited for my third annual Holiday Themed post. This year my them is Aspen. It's all about rustic luxury. Image a beautiful ski cabin decorated with warm colors, this year I went with whites, emerald green, and dark blues. For this years Christmas theme I wanted to bring the outside in. To create a warm and cozy atmosphere and transport us to a mountain holiday paradise. One of the first things I decided on was the color palette, lots of whites, pops of silver, along with dark blues and emerald green. The other thing I keep in mind is to keep it simple. Small touches make all the difference like the snow dip pinecones tucked throughout the tree. I added miniature pine trees and vintage trucks tie the theme together throughout the house. I love to wrap my frame in bold wrapping paper, this year I used Green with Gold Pin Dot Gift Wrap, Single Roll - sugar paper™ from Target. I also add navy and white velvet ribbon to tie the whole look together.

I think it's important I want the room to look cohesive but not too matchy-matchy. Adding in personal elements not only creates a sense of warmth for you but also your guests. My husband and I added a Felt Letter Board as a centerpiece for our cabinet. Besides shopping for my Christmas ornaments and tree decorations, I also hit up the craft store for all the little things to complete the theme, from wrapping paper, ribbon, and pinecones. The pinecones were my little DIY project for this Holiday Season. I grab a bag of cinnamon-scented pinecones from my local craft store, I added white paint to the ends and rolled them in snow dust.

When your home has festive decorations and a well-executed theme, it ensures everyone will share in the holiday fun while feeling warm and welcome. TIPS: Christmas Tree Care:

When you get home, keep your tree in water in a sheltered, unheated area such as a porch or garage. Before you set your tree in the stand, make a fresh, straight cut across the base of the trunk (about a quarter inch up from the original cut); use a tree stand that holds a gallon of water or more.

Important: Keep the tree stand filled with water. Dried sap will form a seal over the cut stump in four to six hours if the water drops below the base of the tree, preventing the tree from absorbing water later when the tree stand is refilled. If a seal does form, another fresh cut will need to be made. Keep your tree away from heat and draft sources like fireplaces, radiators and television sets. Research at Washington State University has found that plain old tap water is the best medium for keeping your Christmas tree as fresh as possible.
