Family Fun On The Farm: Pumpkin Picking
One of my favorite family traditions is picking pumpkins right off the vine. I love searching for the perfect pumpkin (let's be honest pumpkins) to bring home and decorate the house with. There are so many great family-owned farms in the Midwest it's hard to choose which one to go to first!
We headed out to Barthel Fruit Farm in Mequon, WI and it was a perfect day to pick pumpkins, enjoy apple cider donuts, and create lasting memories. There is not only amazing fruits and vegetables to buy but also herbs, honey in the raw and succulents. I am not sure who had more fun, picking pumpkins and pulling the wagon the parents or the kid. For a city kid, Jamerson looks like he has lived on a farm his entire life. I highly recommend checking out local farms by you, some have kid activities, hay rides, corn mazes, and more. There is still plenty of time to get out there and enjoy family fun on the farm. Go make some memories!
If you are anything like me, you absolutely love to carve pumpkins, and decorate for the holidays! As we were shopping for Halloween decorations at our local Target, in the dollar section at the front of the store, I came across this awesome Glitter Pumpkin Stencil Kit and knew I had to try it out. I picked this beautiful white pumpkin at the farm and didn't want to carve it up, so glitter is the next best thing. The whole project took about an hour start to finish and it turned out great! You definitely do not have to be one of those amazing Pinterest DIY people... I am not. My biggest tip for this project is don't rush or the glitter will get everywhere! This is not really a project for small kids, I would stick with the painting or face kits for the wee ones.
For me, this is the perfect project for a little alone time or a Girl's Night In. Grab a glass of bubbly and let your inner crafter come out!
Happy Fall!
